Verdant for Humans, ZHdK

A research-driven design project proposing a new model for biophilic architecture, rooted in digital fabrication, material honesty, and living systems.

How can digital fabrication enable the integration of natural elements in living spaces?

Verdant for Humans is a biophilic design project that reimagines how architecture can restore the human connection to nature. Developed as a MA Thesis at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK), the project proposes a new typology of architectural surface, one that integrates ceramic 3D printing with living moss to create structural coatings that bring organic life directly into built environments.

The project was nominated for the Master Förderpreis 2020 and has been published on Dezeen, oekologie.zhdk.ch, industrialdesign.zhdk.ch, and showcased at the Tallinn Design Festival.
